Ping An Finance Center: Accentuating the Verticality of Shenzhen’s Skyline
1 January 2016
Standing as a structural marvel and a defining silhouette in the Shenzhen skyline, the Ping An Finance Center reaches a staggering height of 599 meters. Completed in 2016, the project required a lighting strategy capable of emphasizing the tower’s immense verticality and its distinctive diamond-shaped structural facets. With lighting design support from Lighting Planners Associates (LPA), LUCITAG provided the high-intensity architectural lighting hardware needed to create a dramatic vertical illumination effect across the building’s exterior.
To achieve this, LUCITAG supplied 115 LAND SPOT 65 from our Landscape Collection. The luminaires were carefully positioned at the base of the tower and aligned with the structural gaps along the edges of the building’s diamond framework. Using narrow-beam precision optics, the fixtures project light upward through these architectural recesses, generating a continuous vertical glow that visually draws the eye from the podium level all the way to the summit. This application demonstrates how precision outdoor luminaires can maintain light throw and intensity across significant vertical distances while highlighting the tower’s structural rhythm.
The Ping An Finance Center project demonstrates LUCITAG’s capability in large-scale architectural façade lighting. Through close coordination with the lighting design team, the system transforms structural geometry into a powerful nighttime identity for one of the world’s tallest supertall towers.
