Designed by WATG and Wimberly Interiors, the hotel balances Shanghai's rich heritage with a new generation of hospitality. With Lighting Design Alliance responsible for the lighting design, light becomes part of the architecture: quiet, controlled and designed to shape how each space is experienced.

Designed by WATG and Wimberly Interiors, the hotel balances Shanghai's rich heritage with a new generation of hospitality. With Lighting Design Alliance responsible for the lighting design, light becomes part of the architecture: quiet, controlled and designed to shape how each space is experienced.
For the Grand Hall, the ambition was to create a distinctive feather-like texture across the vertical wall panels and vaulted ceiling, while keeping the lighting hardware visually concealed. FLEX MILKY SLIM was integrated directly into the architectural structure. Its high-density diffuse optic minimizes visible hotspots, transforming the linear source into a soft and continuous luminous layer. Light appears to float across the surfaces, reinforcing the sense of luxury without competing with the architecture.
At the grand staircase, INGROUND SLIM is installed directly into the surface of the rotating staircase steps, providing discreet illumination while preserving the sculptural quality of the marble structure. The lighting remains integrated into the architecture, guiding movement without interrupting the visual rhythm of the staircase.
In the restaurant, the atmosphere shifts from theatrical to intimate. MP LINEAR AC provides controlled architectural illumination while enhancing the richness of premium finishes and culinary presentation. Specified at 3000K with CRI 90+, it delivers high-fidelity colour rendering, preserving the natural depth and vibrancy of materials and food.
Soft diffusion gives the Grand Hall its luminous presence. Integrated step lighting guides the journey. Precise linear illumination brings depth to the dining environment.
