At the heart of Chengdu's Daci Temple district, Gucci Flagship Store occupies a distinctive place within Taikoo Li Chengdu—an open, low-rise retail environment where contemporary luxury meets the architectural heritage of Sichuan. Surrounded by historic courtyards, traditional architectural references and the rhythm of pedestrian lanes, the store becomes part of a dialogue between Chengdu's cultural character and the international language of luxury fashion. Taikoo Li's architecture was conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional architecture, creating an understated yet highly distinctive setting for global luxury brands.
As daylight fades, the façade takes on a new role. The architectural surface becomes a quiet expression of the Gucci identity, with the natural character of the marble emerging through carefully controlled illumination. LUCITAG supplied SMART COVE OUTDOOR PLUS for the store's exterior façade lighting, designed to provide uniform illumination across the marble surface while revealing the subtle texture and depth of the stone at night. The light grazes the façade with consistency, allowing the material itself—not the luminaire—to define the visual experience.
Rather than introducing a strong visual source, the lighting remains discreetly integrated into the architectural composition. The result is a refined nighttime presence that complements the surrounding streetscape and allows the Gucci storefront to stand confidently within Taikoo Li's distinctive blend of heritage and contemporary luxury.
From the historic Daci Temple to the international fashion houses along its lanes, Taikoo Li Chengdu creates a setting where cultural memory and contemporary retail coexist. Within this environment, light becomes another layer of the architecture—revealing material, shaping presence and extending the identity of the store into the evening.
