Ord Bridge
Singapore, 2024
Application: Infrastructure
Product: WASH, GRAZE
Model: ECO SPOT 190, HP LINEAR DC
For over a century, the Ord Bridge has stood as a silent sentinel over the Singapore River. Originally built in 1886 to replace an even older crossing, this steel-truss landmark was a vital artery for the merchants who built the city’s early trade. However, as the city evolved into a futuristic metropolis, the bridge’s historic silhouette often faded into the shadows after dusk.
In 2024, the mission was to bring the Ord Bridge back to the center of the nightscape. The challenge was to respect its 19th-century structural integrity while imbuing it with 21st-century dynamic LED energy. LUCITAG was appointed to supply a bespoke lighting solution that could articulate the bridge’s complex "structural rhythm" while surviving the unforgiving humidity and urban vibrations of the Singapore waterfront.

Precision Engineering: The Structural Layering
To transform the bridge into a contemporary urban landmark, LUCITAG supplied a strategic dual-layer architectural lighting system. Our role was to provide luminaires that could emphasize geometric depth without creating light spill that would disrupt the surrounding river environment.
Upper-Structure Articulation
LUCITAG delivered 26 units of the ECO SPOT 190 from our WASH Collection for placement atop the framework. These precision LED spotlights function as the bridge’s "crown," providing focused, high-intensity accents to the upper trusses. By isolating the light on the structural members, we enabled a sense of verticality that defines the bridge’s presence across the Clarke Quay skyline.
Sub-Structure Grazing
To illuminate the pedestrian walkway from below, we supplied 164 units of the HP LINEAR DC from the LUCITAG Graze Series. These RGBW linear luminaires bathe the under-span in a seamless immersion of color. Utilizing 10°x50° optics, our technology allows the light to "hug" the steel beams, ensuring a uniform glow that reflects off the water, turning the river surface into a secondary canvas for dynamic color-changing effects.

Resilience in a Tropical Gateway
In the world of critical urban infrastructure, the reliability of supplied components is the only acceptable metric. Singapore’s climate—characterized by intense tropical heat and sudden, heavy downpours—demands hardware that is technically beyond reproach. Both the HP LINEAR DC and the ECO SPOT 190 provided by LUCITAG are IP66-rated, ensuring complete moisture protection and thermal stability for long-term outdoor façade lighting.
Specified in full RGBW, our luminaires have transformed the Ord Bridge into a programmable civic symbol. From subtle, warm heritage tones on quiet weeknights to vibrant, synchronized scenes during national celebrations, the bridge now responds to the rhythm of the city. This project proves that when heritage meets high-performance LED technology supplied by LUCITAG, infrastructure becomes an enduring piece of urban art.
