Rising within the Wuhan Tiandi district, Wuhan Corporate Avenue 1 (Shui On Tower) stands as a contemporary commercial landmark along the Yangtze River corridor. Defined by its sharp geometry and layered façade composition inspired by traditional Chinese lattice patterns, the tower required a sophisticated lighting strategy capable of enhancing its nighttime presence while preserving the purity of its glass envelope during daylight. The objective was to create a refined architectural expression with long-distance visibility, allowing the building’s structural rhythm and façade composition to remain clearly legible within Wuhan’s evolving skyline.

Staggered Structural Articulation System
The tower’s primary lighting expression is created through a carefully integrated linear lighting system using GRAZE HP Linear AC luminaires. Rather than outlining the external perimeter of the tower or applying continuous vertical illumination, the system follows the internal structure of the façade through precisely positioned horizontal and vertical segments within individual window bay divisions, reflecting the rhythm of the tower’s lattice-inspired geometry.The line-voltage architecture enables consistent illumination across extended façade sections, while precision narrow-beam optics focus light on the intended structural elements. This controlled approach enhances the rhythm of the curtain wall divisions, creating a balanced geometric composition while minimizing unwanted light spill and maintaining interior visual comfort.

The luminaires are seamlessly integrated within curtain wall interfaces and architectural recesses, maintaining a discreet visual profile during daytime conditions.
