Situated within Shanghai’s Hongqiao transport and business hub, Hotel Indigo Shanghai Hongqiao translates localized cultural references into a layered hospitality interior defined by textured surfaces, custom metalwork, and material-rich spatial composition. The guestrooms balance expressive detailing with controlled spatial restraint, where lighting is required to support depth, comfort, and material legibility without competing with the interior architecture.
LUCITAG supplied an integrated interior LED system developed to reinforce this atmosphere through concealed, low-glare illumination and continuous ambient layering. Our SMART COVE systems were integrated within ceiling perimeters, producing a uniform, dot-free indirect glow that defines spatial boundaries while revealing surface texture and maintaining a calm visual field across the room.
Rather than acting as a focal element, the lighting operates as a continuous background layer that supports the interior’s material hierarchy. Subtle gradients of illumination enhance vertical surfaces and patterned detailing without introducing harsh contrast, allowing architectural elements to remain visually primary within the composition. The result is a restrained lighting environment defined by concealment and continuity, where indirect illumination establishes a cohesive ambient framework that supports both the decorative richness and the residential comfort of the guestroom experience.
