Located in the heart of Hong Kong, Mercato Restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongerichten combines rustic Italian warmth with industrial-modern character. To complement this layered interior, LUCITAG delivered a dynamic lighting scheme that evolves throughout the day — transforming the restaurant from a relaxed daytime venue into an immersive evening destination.
Dynamic Architectural Lighting
The upper ceiling volumes and exposed industrial structure are illuminated using the GRAZE MP LINEAR DC (RGBW), creating a bold architectural presence throughout the space. The RGBW system allows the atmosphere to shift dramatically after dark, washing the ceiling in deep violet and purple tones that contrast elegantly against the restaurant’s warm brick finishes. Despite its high output, the slim linear profile integrates discreetly within the exposed ceiling structure, preserving the clean architectural language of the interior. The dedicated white channel also ensures accurate rendering of material textures and finishes whenever a more refined architectural ambiance is desired.

To balance the dramatic overhead lighting, LUCITAG FLEX STRIPS were integrated within the bar joinery and wine display shelving to introduce a softer, more intimate layer of illumination.These concealed linear details highlight the richness of the brick textures, bottle displays, and material palette while maintaining warmth and visual comfort throughout the dining experience.
