The expansive public plaza at Merry Land in Quy Nhon, Vietnam, is conceived as a large-scale exercise in experiential landscape architecture, where civic gathering space merges with immersive nighttime scenography. The site is activated through a precisely choreographed lighting infrastructure that transforms the plaza into a dynamic public environment after dark. LUCITAG developed a fully integrated ground-based lighting system that defines the perimeter, articulates spatial geometry, and enables high-resolution light sequences to animate the entire public realm.
To shape the plaza’s sweeping circular topography, 1,386 LUCITAG Landscape Inground Slim G2 linear luminaires are embedded seamlessly within the paving joints, forming continuous concentric rings of light that reinforce the site’s radial structure. Their ultra-slim profile allows them to disappear into the stonework by day, while at night they emerge as uninterrupted bands of RGBW illumination. The result is a precise architectural outline of light that defines circulation, reinforces orientation, and visually unifies the vast open space into a coherent whole.
At the center of the composition, a dense matrix of 621 LUCITAG Landscape Inground Frosted SQ100 luminaires introduces a finer, pixel-based layer of expression. Arranged as a programmable field of points, the installation generates dynamic sequences that ripple across the plaza surface, shifting the atmosphere from structured order to animated interaction. Operating as a secondary visual plane beneath the linear rings, this pixel field adds depth, rhythm, and temporal variation to the spatial experience. Together, the linear perimeter system and central pixel matrix form a dual-layer lighting landscape—one that balances geometric clarity with kinetic expression. Fully synchronized through DMX control, the entire installation enables fluid transitions across scales of perception, allowing the plaza to evolve from a civic open square into a fully immersive nocturnal destination.
