Ping An Finance Center
Shenzhen, China, 2017
Application: Building Façade
Product: LANDSCAPE
Model: LAND SPOT 65
599 Metres of architecture. One continuous vertical expression of light.
As daylight fades across Shenzhen, the Ping An Finance Center begins to reveal another dimension of its architecture.
Rising 599 metres above the city, the tower is defined by its immense scale and distinctive diamond-shaped structural framework. At night, the challenge was not simply to make the building visible, but to make its verticality felt. With lighting design support from Lighting Planners Associates (LPA), LUCITAG supplied LAND SPOT series luminaires from the LANDSCAPE series. Placed at the base of the tower and precisely aligned with the structural gaps along the edges of its diamond framework, the luminaires project narrow-beam light upward through the architectural recesses.

As the light travels vertically, individual points of illumination begin to read as one continuous gesture—drawing the eye from the podium toward the summit and giving the tower a powerful presence against the Shenzhen skyline. At this extraordinary scale, precision is essential. The narrow-beam optics provide the light throw and intensity required to reach significant vertical distances, while keeping the illumination closely tied to the building's structural rhythm.
The façade is not treated as a surface to be covered with light. Instead, light works through the architecture—following its geometry, reinforcing its verticality and allowing the structure itself to define the nighttime expression. From the city below, the effect is both restrained and monumental: a slender line of light rising through the darkness, turning structure into identity.
Architecture sets the structure. Precision optics reveal it.
